Do you ever get that feeling of being down on the dumps? I'm sure you know of them: those times when you feel absolutely depressed with whatever and need some ray of inspiration to keep you motivated? I can surely say that you are not alone in that experience. Everyone at one point feel that way. I mean, it's a given already, everyone experiences slumps from time to time. It's that thing that makes you consider GIVING UP as a distinct possibility, that makes you wallow in your bed till 3am in the morning wondering what on earth you did wrong, and what you should have done.
In short, slumps have the power to kick you in the gut. In those times however, what you need is a motivational boost, to recharge your energy and keep you focused on your goals. To achieve this, I have outlined a number of inspirational tips to motivate you today.
1. Read up on the lives of the Great Ones
Nothing inspires me more than reading biographies of people who, against all odds, conquered their fears and flashed the finger at Risk on their way to success and the history books. Search them up. You'll see that at one point too, they went through slumps very much like yours.
2. Check out motivational blogs
An example of which is KickAssifyMyLife, whose link can be seen below this entry. Scroll through the blogs, you'll find tons of tips to help you out and motivate you to fight your way back and conquer your fears. Also, this exposes you the a wide variety of people who may be going through a similar situation.
3. Set unconventional and easy goals and do it!
Another way of keeping you motivated when you're caught in the slumps is to achieve success in tons of easy goals which you could then progressively build up into harder ones in the future. In addition to this, you could try setting unconventional easy goals. This could well be an excellent source of learning as you are exposed to new experiences.But the most important aspect of this piece of advice in terms of personal growth is to actually do it!
4. Keep a blog/ diary and jot your dreams
One way to keep yourself inspired is by rereading old entries in your journal/blog. You can write down anything. You could talk about your day, a new crush, a new car, who won in the recent NBA game, or you could talk about your dreams, your passions, what you love doing, what moves you, and the like. Reading through these can give you a significant boost in morale.
5. Inspire others
I believe the most effective way to motivate yourself is by touching the lives of other people. You may think it weird, but it's true. Inspiring and uplifting others (even in times when we find ourselves in slumps) undeniably makes us feel good about ourselves. For some, this feeling becomes the driving force of their lives. For others, these acts of inspiring and uplifting not only affect the object, but the inspirer himself. The perfect phrase to capture the essence of this is Good Vibes.
