Use Music For Motivation Training

Use Music to MOTIVATE you
Many believe that music is a very powerful tool for self-expression. I on the other hand, a person who is not as musically inclined and artistically creative as he'd want to be, believe that music is a stronger medium for connection and self-motivation. With the wide range of topics it covers, it's no wonder then that we can connect to the messages the songs portray between the lines. In this same light, it's amazing how some songs just have that uncanny power to move you, to shake you beyond measure, and to make you cry. There are other forms of music though, which move people through its rhythm and loops rather than the lyrics. These are no less valuable in the discussion of their impact of music in our daily lives.
However given all of these, one question that arises is Can you use music to motivate yourself? Another question that pops into the minds of people is how effective can music possibly be? These are some of the questions that I'll attempt to answer in this article.
1. Can you use music for motivation training?
In response to this, I'd say YES, absolutely. I don't know if it's the same for you guys, but just try paying a visit to your neighborhood gym to verify this observation. There you have scores of people getting pumped up by the blaring in-house music to sweat it out on those machines. The operative phrase in the previous sentence is PUMPED UP. MUSIC has the power to PUMP YOU UP.
When you're feeling the blues, or feeling quite low, drop what your doing, pop your earphones and listen to your most favorite upbeat song (currently mine's Tonight's Gonna Be a Good Night by the Black Eyed Peas). Bob your head to it. Dance to it, if you're more ambitious. Let it drive new energy into your body. Simply let it recharge you.
Also, for the athletes out there, use rhythmic music to give you that ADDED RUSH you need before game time. In my experience, I usually do my warm ups while injecting my eardrums with a heavy dose of hip hop music before track meets. You could use that music to get into the zone, so to speak, so that by the time you step into the courts/fields/track/pool, you'd come in there motivated to win, a drive further intensified by music
2. How effective can music possibly be?
Now this is a very subjective question. There have been countless studies on the connection between Music and Performance but nearly all have been proven inconclusive after some time. I mean, even the Mozart effect was debunked already! Despite the conclusions of the scientific community, I think that the efficacy of music to an individual's performance level is still highly relative. It can have different effects for different people. Some athletes may credit music for their performance. Some writers cite cafe music as their motivation to wield the pen. Some musicians view other people's music, as a source of inspiration for composing their own tunes. The list merely goes on.
So now, in the face of these questions, what can you concretely do to motivate yourself through music? Listen. Just listen. Allow yourself to be enraptured. Allow music to take a transcendental grip on your life to move you, to shake you, and to pump you up awesomely.

Many good tips on an important topic. There are certain songs that play and I can remember how I felt 30+ years ago in high school. Amazing. Congrats on your nomination.
There are many moments in my life when music became my partner during prayer. That helped me survive those tough days. Yes, I agree, music can motivate us in many ways.

Nice hub. Music is pretty powerful stuff.
I agree wholeheartedly, I'm very involved with music (like a second job almost) BUT I also use music when working with children with disability & health care - I have seen music work wonders. Thank you for sharing this information.
