Inspirational Strategies for Better Performance
58Drawing Inspiration
I know I'm not alone when I say this but nowadays, as most of us are busy with our long and boring 9 to 5 day jobs, motivation is increasingly hard to come by, and we feel even less inspired to perform better. We find ourselves stuck in routine, facing the same bosses, the same annoying officemates, the same weird neighbor, EVERY SINGLE DAY. It's as if we find ourselves trapped in that vicious never-ending daily cycle. In this sort of environment, it's a tad bit hard to think and find fresh and innovative ways to improve yourself. However difficult it may be, I have managed to list quite a number of tips below which you could try out to recharge you and boost your performance.
1. Read Self-Help Books
You might say, No, those things are too corny for my tastebuds. But contrary to that thought, I believe that these kinds of books are indeed very helpful in terms of how much it aids you in learning more about yourself, and finding inspirational stories that you can connect to. If you're low on the buck however, you could try reading some of the self motivation eBooks online (there are dozens of them, I tell you). Some of them are just a click away. For the more curious ones though, you could try visiting those websites on personal coaches. While I've never actually tried one myself, I believe they're just as effective.
I advise you to read through these resources and for once, try them out in your own lives. Trust me, taking the initiative to improve your well-being goes a long way in performing better in general. It doesn't cost much to spend an hour every day just doing that: reading on these books that will hopefully inspire you. Heck you don't even have to spend a dime! Just set aside a couple of minutes to read through what you can. You won't regret it, I swear.
2. Meditation
There are a few things in this world that's more relaxing than the feeling you get from meditating earnestly. Try it. Here's a short exercise you could do from the comfort of your chair. Close your eyes, and relax your body completely. Breathe steadily and slowly. You could choose to reflect on your day among other things, or you could take the time to just purge your mind from distractions. With your eyes still shut, be aware of the different sensations around your body: from the tips of your feet to the edges of your fingers to your neck and just relax. Do this for about 5 minutes everyday. I guarantee that you will feel so much better.
If you want to know more about meditation and how it can help inspire you in your daily life, there are likewise more than a thousand online resources that you have access to from your very home. Just remember, never hesitate to smash dents into your routine. These kinds of things, like I continuously say, go a long way in improving your performance.
3. Keep a blog or journal to track your progress
Once you have your journal/blog/diary, make sure that one of the first things that you write are your goals. Keep track of your journey. How far along are you? How much longer till you finally beat your last personal best Marathon time? For me, writing about your progress is one of the best sources of inspiration that a person can draw from. It gives you a security in knowing that since you're tracking yourself, you are in effect guiding yourself towards your goal. It doesn't take much to start. Write your goals on scratch paper or anything that your ink can get to and KEEP IT. Post it somewhere in your room. Keep it in your diary. The point is, constantly remind yourself of the goal(s) EVERY SINGLE DAY.
If you wanna know more about the tips I have just outlined, do not hesitate to search for other resources. Like I said, most are just a click away. Remember, do not be satisfied with a life of routine. You can make the proactive choice of deviating from that by constantly striving to perform better and by finding further sources of inspiration everyday.
